Discover the Wonders of Science with Science Investigators
Our science camp provides children entering 3rd – 5th grades with a unique opportunity to explore and engage in the wonders of science through hands-on learning and STEM education.
Summer Science Camps
Science Investigators is a small group summer science camp based in Northbrook, Illinois. This science camp offers a variety of different week-long STEM and science camps which show campers many aspects of the scientific method.
Delivered in Northbrook, this summer science camp is close to Glenview, Deerfield, Glencoe, Wheeling and surrounding areas in the northern suburbs of Chicago.
Week 1: Design and Engineering
Date: June 17th-21st
Time: 1:30-3:00 p.m.
$200
This week campers will explore the processes of design and engineering. Campers will participate in design challenges where they will learn the basic principles of structural designs that are seen in our everyday lives. Each day is a new design challenge – with the final two days focused on designing and building a catapult and participating in a Catapult Olympics Challenge.
Week 2: Water and Density
Date: June 24-28th
Time: 1:30-3:00 p.m.

This week campers will explore the question: “What causes objects to sink or float?”
Campers will participate in daily hands-on activities to answer this question. Activities include building tin foil boats, exploring and analyzing density columns, experimenting with cartesian divers, and a water purification challenge.
Week 3: Living VS Non-living
Date: August 5-9th
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.

This week campers will explore the question: “What is Life?”
Campers will collect soil and water samples to explore the differences between living and non-living things. Campers will learn how to use a hand lens and microscope, and create a wet mount slide. They will recording observations in a journal.
Week 4: Physical and Chemical Changes
Date: August 12-16th
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.

This week campers will explore the basics of chemistry through hands-on experiments using yeast, gummy bears and alka seltzer tablets. Campers will explore changes in matter and learn how to create a hypothesis and analyze data. Their findings will be recorded in a journal.
